The next six lots from a private collection recently rediscovered -
Attributed to George Catlin 1796-1872 – Portrait of Osceola – also known as Black Drink and commonly called Powell the son of a white man (Powell) and a creek woman from the Peninsula of Florida Seminolees Indians – oil on canvas 40cm x 30cm – This version probably from the late 1860s – cartoon collection when Catlin was based in Europe (Brussels) the canvas bears a Dutch suppliers stamp – Voortman Oraniestr Amsterdam, he returned to America in 1870, two years before his death - (For an Earlier larger version 78cm x 66cm painted in 1838 see – North American Indians by George Caitlin, Dover publication vol II opposite page 220) book accompanying this lot

Canvas sound no holes or repairs, would benefit from a clean, paint to edges of the canvas then nailed to the stretcher, see images and image of earlier version in Catlin's book 'North American Indians'
