An early 20th century mahogany cased surgeon’s box / field kit, with presentation cartouche to case ‘Presented to Dr. J J Rabbit of The Hospital Ship Maine by the R.A.M.C in recognition of his services in The Anglo Boer War’, opening to reveal an interior fitted with full complement of implements and tools etc, over four steel framed tiers, the hinged inner cover complete with diagram and table of contents, the case with inset brass maker’s badges ‘John Weiss & Son Ltd, 287, Oxford St, London, complete even with its original key still preserved in John Weiss & Son, Ltd retailer’s envelope, marked 287 Oxford street, London W, 8cm high, 45 x 17cm
As far as we can see it is complete. The cover shuts/closes well. The plaque is heavily scratched/scraped.
