Nicholas Pocock OWS (1740-1821) - 'A Frigate entering a Foreign Port (St. Kitts and Nevis, West Indies)', oil on canvas, inscribed 'Pocock pinx.' verso, canvas dimensions: 46.5 x 59.5 cm, framed in a late 18th century gilt frame, dimensions: 60 x 73 cm. Together with a Port of Bristol 1780-1980 Clifton Festival 1980 Exhibition catalogue with this painting included as the first painting in the collection, and a letter from the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery curator Francis Greenacre to David Cross mentioning the possible opportunity to acquire this painting for their permanent collection, along with the original receipt of purchase.
