An exceptional 19th century French bronze twin-handled wine cooler of monumental proportions, the oval bowl above a frieze decorated with stylised faun masks and vignettes laden with fruit, flanked by a pair of large fluted handles, each entangled with pairs of serpents, over winged lion mask mounts, the bowl centred with cartouches populated with battle scene and heraldic armorial, each flanked by figures in bondage (possibly abolition related?) raised on a pedestal base with bacchanalian and further masks, marked only for the foundry 'Graux Marly Fres', Paris 47cm high, 61 x 38cm
