A fine cased 19th century Italian Grand Tour polished granite box, the hinged cover inset with a finely worked micromosaic panel depicting The Colosseum, Rome, 4 x 6cm, the box mounted in indistinctly marked yellow metal, overall 2.3 cm high, 7.8, in seemingly original bespoke fitted hinged tooled leather and felt-lined case
The micro mosaic panel is loose from the cover, which has a small chip to the cover's inner rim. The cover sits loose from the mounts (needs to be re-glued). The yellow metal mounts show blemishing throughout. The fitted case is generally a little tired but really very good for age.
