Jonathan Richardson I (1665-1745) - 'John Campbell, 4th Duke of Argyll' (1721), oil on canvas, inscribed 'John Fourth Duke of Argyle' top right, canvas size: 148.5 x 141 cm, framed in an ornate 18th century gilt wood and gesso frame size: 162 x 157 cm. (The present vendor has family links with the Campbell family - Dukes of Argyll)

James Basire I (1730-1802) produced a line engraving after this portrait by Jonathan Richardson I by the same title. This engraving is now part of both the National Portrait Gallery collection (reference number: NPG D32570) and The British Museum collection (ref.: 1973,0106.1)
